Let Me Introduce You to My New Website!
I’ve owned this domain for a long time now, and it’s stuck with me. It’s been a while since I’ve really done anything significant with this website. Originally I had thought that a simple landing page would suit my needs, but I realized that I needed something to fit my needs when it came to adding content.
What I Wanted My Website to Be
- Easy to install, customize, and maintain. Editing the website’s HTML, JaveScript, and CSS in order to add content started becoming a nuisance. And as a result, it’s something I’d like to avoid doing on a regular basis.
- Accessible on desktop and mobile clients for both viewing and editing. It was very annoying having to login via an SSH client on my ThinkPad in order to add some new content to my website, something I’d like to be able to do more easily.
- Able to handle uploads like 20MP+ photos or 1080p60 videos from my Nikon D3300 camera. The previous design of my website made file uploads near impossible to do. Even more so, it was incredibly difficult to fit anything in the small terminal-themed page that originally made up my website.
I considered everything from CMS software such as Drupal and Joomla, to building the backend myself. But in the end, I settled on the ever-popular WordPress due to my familiarity with the software in the past. WordPress is notable for power that it provides through its clean and simple interface.
What to Look For In the Future
Construction of this site is not final, as is with any other site with evolving content. I’ll probably come up with new and interesting design changes as time goes on, in addition to the content that this website contains.
I look forward to creating articles on this ever-evolving website related to gaming, programming, cycling, photography, and additional content I find appealing. I am excited to detail the journeys I make and the experiences I have on my website.
